Sheldon Creed Doubles Down at the Detroit Grand Prix

X-Games Gold Medalist & 2-Time Stadium Super Trucks Series Champion at Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

X-Games Gold-Medalist and 2-time Stadium Super Trucks Series champion Sheldon Creed heads to the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear this weekend, and will take part in two different series on the Verizon IndyCar Series undercard.

Creed, 19-years-old from El Cajon, CA, will compete in both the Stadium Super Trucks (SST) Series and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. Creed, currently sits in 4th place in SST points with 3 wins in 8 races, despite missing 2 races due to commitments in other racing series. He will be piloting the Safecraft-sponsored truck in SST races on both Saturday and Sunday. Also on Sunday, he will make his second start in the Trans Am Series, driving the United Fiber & Data/United Rentals/Speedlogix Dodge Challenger for Stevens-Miller Racing. The Detroit event wasn’t originally on Creed’s 3-race Trans Am schedule, but after a promising debut at Road Atlanta, both team and driver wanted to carry the positive momentum over to the 2.35-mile Belle Isle street circuit.

Sheldon Creed on Detroit: “Detroit will definitely be a little crazy racing the SST truck and the Trans Am car on the same weekend, but I’m up for the challenge. Obviously, the truck and the race car are two completely different vehicles in terms of handling, dynamics and lines on the race track.  I love street circuits and think we’ll have a pretty good shot to run up front in all three races this weekend.  I hope to even steal a win or two! We’ve got a new sponsor for Detroit with United Fiber & Data coming on board, and United Rentals will have a lot of guests at the track since they are sponsoring Graham Rahal and Team RLL in the IndyCar race with their awesome Turns for Troops Program, so we hope to put on a great show for everyone.”
