Solid Top 5 for Creed at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

X-Games Gold Medal Winner, Sheldon Creed, Plays in The Dirt at Eldora Next

Sheldon “The Showstopper”Creed, competed in the second of four races that he will run in thirteen days; last Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East United Site Services 70.

It was Creed’s first visit to the “Magic Mile,” but his #40 United Rentals/AM Ortega Construction, MDM Motorsports Toyota Camry was very comfortable in practice and fast enough in qualifying to score the fifth position.  He qualified right behind his teammate Harrison Burton, the current points leader in the series.

When the green flag flew on the 70-lap race, Creed quickly jumped into 4th place and ran there for most of the race. Toward the end of the race, Burton closed on Creed, and they ran nose-to-tail for many laps before Burton eventually got past Creed.  The teammates went on to finish the race in 4th and 5th positions.

Creed now heads from the 1-mile paved oval of NHMS to the half-mile dirt oval of Eldora Speedway for his second start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Eldora Dirt Derby on Wednesday night. He finished 16th in last year’s Dirt Derby after running near the front, but suffering multiple tire problems pushed him back down the order.

Creed will be driving the #20 United Rentals/AM Ortega Chevrolet Silverado for Young’s Motorsports, as a teammate to Australian sprint car driver, Max Johnston, in the team’s regular #02 entry.

Sheldon Creed on Eldora:
“I’m glad to have another shot at Eldora,” said Creed.  “Hopefully, we can get our No. 20 United Rentals Chevrolet dialed in and have a good handle on our truck on Tuesday night that will carry over to qualifying, the heat races and the feature on Wednesday night.”

The 32-truck field will take the green flag shortly after 9:30 p.m. CT with live coverage on FOX Business Network, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90).
