Sheldon Creed Battles Through Adversity at COTA; Momentum Building as Series Heads to Phoenix
Sheldon Creed and the Haas Factory Team showcased grit and determination this weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, overcoming power steering issues to secure an 11th-place finish in the No. 00 Road Ranger Chevrolet.
Creed started 9th on the grid and appeared poised for a strong Top-10 run on the demanding 3.41-mile road course before mechanical challenges surfaced early in the event. Navigating one of NASCAR’s most technical circuits without full steering assistance requires both physical endurance and intense focus — and Creed delivered both.
“P11 with no power steering — we’ll take it,” Creed said following the race.
Despite the adversity, the finish delivered valuable championship points and reinforced the resilience of the Haas Factory Team program. The continued development of the Chevrolet package is beginning to show consistency, speed, and staying power.
Momentum from Atlanta
The COTA performance comes just one week after a statement victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Creed and the No. 00 Road Ranger Chevrolet captured their first win of the 2026 season. That victory served as a clear indicator that the move to Chevrolet is already paying dividends, positioning the team as a legitimate contender in the championship fight.
Atlanta proved the speed.
COTA proved the toughness.
Heading to a Familiar Battleground
Now the series turns its focus to Phoenix Raceway, a venue that holds special significance for Creed. It was at Phoenix in 2020 where he executed one of the most memorable restarts in recent NASCAR history, surging to the lead to capture the NASCAR Truck Series Championship.
Returning to a track that has already delivered a career-defining moment adds confidence and momentum as the 2026 title battle intensifies.
Creed currently remains firmly inside the Top Five in points as the season builds toward the heart of the schedule — and with Atlanta speed, COTA resilience, and Phoenix ahead, the No. 00 team is trending upward.
