SHELDON CREED CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH TOP-10 FINISH AT DAYTONA
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Sheldon Creed and the No. 00 Haas Factory Team closed out the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series regular season Friday night at Daytona International Speedway with another strong performance, earning a 10th-place finish in the Winn-Dixie 250 Powered by Coca-Cola and carrying momentum into the Chase.
Making his 11th series start at Daytona, Creed rolled off fourth in the No. 00 Ollie’s Chevrolet and wasted little time putting himself in contention. Choosing the outside lane on the opening lap, Creed quickly joined the battle for the lead and paced the field for three laps during Stage One.
Creed remained inside the top five for much of the opening stage before the constantly changing draft shuffled him outside the stage points late. He avoided trouble in the closing laps and finished Stage One in 14th.
After restarting 26th to begin Stage Two, Creed quickly began working his way back toward the front.
The Alpine, California native charged into the top 15 before climbing to seventh by the lap-45 caution. Creed continued moving forward following the restart, battling his way to fourth before another caution brought the stage to an early conclusion. He was scored sixth, earning five stage points.
Starting the final stage from eighth, Creed again put the No. 00 Ollie’s Chevrolet into contention at the front of the field. He helped lead the bottom lane forward while battling for the top spot before eventually settling into second.
As the intensity increased and the field continued to shuffle, Creed dropped back into the top 10 while searching for opportunities to build another run toward the front.
A caution with two laps remaining sent the race into overtime and gave Creed one final opportunity. Restarting 12th, he found himself caught in the middle of a three-wide battle and was unable to generate the run he needed toward the leaders, but fought his way to a 10th-place finish.
The result capped an impressive regular season for Creed and Haas Factory Team, highlighted by his first career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February and 16 top-10 finishes.
Creed had already secured his position in the Chase through his performance in the regular-season points standings before arriving at Daytona. With the regular season now complete, he enters the postseason as the No. 3 seed and firmly in the championship conversation.
Consistency has been one of the defining characteristics of Creed’s 2026 campaign. From earning his breakthrough victory at Atlanta to collecting 16 top-10 finishes throughout the regular season, Creed and the No. 00 Haas Factory Team have consistently put themselves in position to contend.
Now, the focus shifts entirely to the Chase and the pursuit of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship.
The postseason begins Friday, September 5 at Darlington Raceway.
