Creed Battles Through Nashville, Maintains Top-Four Position in Points
LEBANON, Tenn. (May 31, 2026) — Sheldon Creed and the No. 00 Ollie's Chevrolet team faced an uphill battle from the moment the green flag waved Saturday night at Nashville Superspeedway, but the Haas Factory Team driver persevered to score a 15th-place finish and remain fourth in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship standings.
After qualifying was washed out by rain, NASCAR's performance metric formula placed Creed 24th on the starting grid. However, pre-race adjustments to the No. 00 Ollie's Chevrolet forced the Haas Factory Team driver to surrender his starting position and take the green flag from the rear of the field, creating an even bigger challenge before the race officially began.
Working alongside teammate Sam Mayer during the opening laps, Creed quickly worked his way through traffic and returned to his original starting position. He continued making steady progress throughout Stage One, climbing into the top 20 and finishing the opening segment in 17th.
Creed restarted Stage Two from 14th and spent much of the segment battling around the edge of the top 15. Despite briefly losing ground midway through the stage, he remained in contention and crossed the line in 15th at the conclusion of Stage Two.
A strong pit stop during the stage break moved the No. 00 team up to 12th for the start of the final stage. While track position remained difficult to gain, Creed maintained a consistent pace throughout the closing run. Following a green-flag pit stop, he settled back into the top 15 and successfully held off a late challenge from Jesse Love to secure a 15th-place finish.
"Starting from the rear definitely made for a long night, but everyone on this Ollie's Chevrolet team kept fighting," said Creed. "We made up a lot of ground early and had a solid pit stop that gave us a chance in the final stage. It wasn't the result we were looking for, but we'll take what we learned and be ready to go when we get to Pocono."
The Nashville result dropped Creed two positions in the championship standings, but he remains fourth overall and firmly in contention as the series heads into a nearly two-week break before returning to action at Pocono Raceway on June 13.
While Nashville did not deliver the finish the team was seeking, the No. 00 group leaves Tennessee with an opportunity to reset and regroup before beginning the summer stretch of the season. Through the first half of the year, Creed has established himself as one of the championship contenders, earning a victory and multiple top-five finishes while consistently keeping himself in the title conversation..
