Creed Collects Stage Points Before Oil-Related Incident Ends Charlotte Night Early

CONCORD, N.C. — Sheldon Creed and the No. 00 Road Ranger Haas Factory Team Chevrolet showed speed early Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway before an oil-related incident ended their night in the rain-shortened NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event.

With qualifying washed out due to weather, NASCAR set the starting lineup by the rulebook, placing Creed 12th on the grid for the evening. The 2020 NASCAR Truck Series Champion quickly worked his way into the top-10 and finished Stage One in 10th, collecting valuable championship points for the Haas Factory Team organization.

As changing weather conditions and multiple cautions impacted the race, Creed continued battling inside the top-20 before disaster struck late in the event. After another competitor suffered an engine failure and oiled down the racing surface, Creed slid in the fluid and made contact with the outside wall, ending the night for the No. 00 team.

Creed was officially scored 32nd in the final running order despite showing the speed to contend for another strong finish.

“We had a pretty solid Road Ranger Chevrolet tonight and were fighting through it,” Creed said in post-race comments. “Just nowhere to go there with the oil on the track. Hate it for everyone on this Haas Factory Team group because I thought we were capable of a much better finish.”

The event was ultimately shortened by rain, creating challenging conditions throughout the evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Despite the setback, Creed leaves Charlotte fourth in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship standings heading into next weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway.
