Creed Finishes 11th at Las Vegas, Eyes Talladega Return

Las Vegas, NV Sheldon Creed, driver of the No. 00 Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Ford Mustang for the Haas Factory Team, battled through handling challenges to earn an 11th-place finish in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After qualifying 10th, Creed and the team were optimistic heading into the opening stage. However, a tight-handling condition early in the run forced an unscheduled pit stop under caution, dropping the No. 00 to 27th by the end of Stage One. Creed described the car as feeling “on top of the track,” making it difficult to carry speed through the corners.

Crew chief Jonathan Toney and the Haas Factory Team went to work on adjustments during the stage break, improving balance and drive through the center of the turns. By Stage Two, Creed had raced his way to 15th, steadily climbing the leaderboard as the car came to life.

In the final stage, Creed surged into the top five in the closing laps, showing the speed the team had been building toward all day. Unfortunately, the car tightened up again late in the run, costing valuable track position and leaving Creed with a hard-fought 11th-place finish at the checkered flag. The result adds to a consistent record for Creed at Las Vegas, where he finished 10th in the spring race earlier this season.

“We had a really strong Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Ford Mustang once we made some adjustments,” Creed said. “The team worked hard all day, and we had top-five speed there at the end. The car just went tight again in the last few laps, but we’ll regroup and go to Talladega ready to fight. I really enjoy plate racing — anything can happen there, and it’s a place where we’ve run well before.”

Creed now sits 21 points below the playoff cutline as the Round of 8 continues. With Talladega Superspeedway next on the schedule — where he finished 9th earlier this year — Creed and the Haas Factory Team know that anything can happen at one of NASCAR’s most unpredictable and exciting tracks.

In addition to competing for a championship, Creed continues to race in support of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, helping raise awareness for children battling pediatric cancer through the organization’s “Racing for a Cause” program.
